There is a revolution afoot in this country, the Tiny House with its small footprint offers shelter with dignity, privacy and independence. It is also a potential solution to address the challenge of a shortage of housing for the underprivileged, our growing elderly population and our workforce. Tiny Houses can address many of these needs and trends.
This program will address these societal challenges along with discussing equity in housing that encompasses future proofing homes for healthy, durable, energy efficient and resilient structures thoughtfully integrated into our communities.
Using smart passive building house best practices and building science-based systems, modular construction practices and smart materials, you will learn how we can produce durable homes for large numbers of our underserved communities.
Learning Objectives: By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Understand the opportunities and constraints of Tiny House design,
Discover the types of populations that Tiny Houses can serve and why,
Become aware of policy initiatives that make Tiny Houses part of the larger solution for housing,
Learn how pre-planning meetings and engaging the best practices of passive energy design can save time and money for the life of the project.
